Hello from the Mississippi Gulf Coast!

Recommended Posts

So glad that I found this website! I don't know anyone nearby that I can talk to so I log in to this site for support. I was banded in late April 08 at Ochsner in New Orleans, LA by Dr. Richardson. I've had 2 fills and have slowly been losing weight. I've learned to recognize when I am full and try to stop eating right away. Sometimes I get this full sensation after just one bite; other times I'm ok and can eat a full cup of food. Something I have noticed however, is that I gain weight when I eat even the tiniest amount of carbs such as l/4 cup of Pasta or something like that. Could this be my imagination?

Hey,

I was also banded by Dr. Richardson (the day after XMas '07)

I've lost 66lbs to date. I don't see Dr. Richardson anymore. I see the PA. (Amber) She is a doll ... and Jesse the NUT.

I hear you about the carbs. I try to stay away from Pasta, rice, and breads. I have pretty good restriction now and really can't get enough protien if I eat carbs. I don't miss them tooo much.

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.ahahahah

This is a great place to come and see how others handle problems you may be having. It's been a life saver for me.

Talk to you soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
