Jaceesmom03 0 Posted November 3, 2008 Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you who are "newly" banded have flown on a plane yet? I was banded on July 22nd, and my family and I are going to Disneyworld next month, so I just wondered how it affected you on a plane?
Judy_AL 0 Posted November 3, 2008 Hey Jaceesmom - I have not but I am this Friday and I was banded on 9/24/08 - but can tell you after that. I have read things on here about it - that some people have felt very tight after flying due to the pressure change - I had asked my doctor this question but they have not gotten back with me on it - but like I said I can let you know on 11/10/08 about it all. Have a great trip!
claireycurtis 0 Posted November 3, 2008 i flew the day after my first fill so don't know if that affected the restriction as i was only getting used to it, but my surgeon said it has no affect on the band:smile2:
Sask Patient 0 Posted November 3, 2008 Hi guys - just speaking from my own personal experience. I had my surgery in Tijuana on Aug 20th... I live in Canada and flew home on the 24rd. We flew from SanDiego to Minneapolis and from there to our home in Saskatchewan. I had no problems at all. In January we are flying to Cuba & I'm not at all worried about it. I wouldn't be too concerned but see how your doctor responds and what others have to say. Good luck! Stace

temmaddie 0 Posted November 3, 2008 Hi, i was banded on August 18th, and went to Disney on Sept. 14th. Not a problem at all!! The harder part was watching what I ate while I was there!!! LOL

Ariel 1 Posted November 3, 2008 No changes at all from the plane. However stress does tighten the band so if you are a scared or stressed flyer you may experiencing tightness.
libbyh 0 Posted November 4, 2008 I have flown quite a few times. The only problem I had was a few days after I flew in Denver. I was hiking and got an extended case of the hiccups. Nothing major, just a little annoying (ok, very annoying). My doctor said it was probably the band--but it hasn't happened since, so it could all be coincedence. MyJourney08 1 Posted November 4, 2008 Hello, I flew just three weeks after getting my band and had no issues at all. It was a little hard when I was stuck in an airport for an extended period of time finding something to eat but found a smoothie shop.
JackieH 0 Posted November 4, 2008 I have flown with the band. I suffered no ill effects whatsoever. So I think you can stop worrying!
