I live in Lewisville, I was banded on 10/22/08 . today is my first day to add soft mushies. I had minimal pain. The gas is was best worked off for me by walking. I have a treadmill in my living room from one of my former diets. I have started back to work past Friday. I have lost 16 pounds so far.

Hey,

I went to college in Fort Worth (Texas Wesleyan) and did my Masters in Dallas (SMU), so I have hung out in that area a good bit.

Glad you're here. Hang in there on the pre-op diet - it can be tricky, but remember, it is meant to help the surgery go better. But if you mess up one day, don't get down on yourself. It won't hurt it (with the exception of eating after midnight the night before... that is not good with anasthesia).

But it will be alright.

Hey there! I live in Fort Worth. I was banded back in March. The best thing that u can do is follow all the instructions to the T. No matter how hard it may seem. The walking will be good to help with the gas pain. Just don't over do it. I am not sure what I did but apparently I did to much of something that the sutures came off and my port flipped over. I have not had restriction since june. I had surgery this past friday and am anxiously awaiting full recovery and a good fill. I wish you all the best of luck. Welcome aboard this journey on a new life!

Hello all I had my surgery Aug 21, I do not feel like i am losing as much as most of the people that had surgery around my time. I have lost 22 lbs.

I have had one fill so far and go for my next one on Nov 13. Does anyone have any suggestion on what I could be doing wrong?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
