Welcome... I have my last dietitian appt. this Friday. Then on Monday all paperwork will go to my surgeon's office to send to insurance. From there I heard it can take 24 hours to 3 weeks depending on what nurse I get. lol... I will be on the phone with them sometime next week to pester them. I also just found out- Aetna our insurance isn't on the list for open enrollment. I need to get this done before the end of the year. yikes. But I did call, and BC will also cover it too with the same benefits. But they want 6 months of a dietitian and not 3 months.

I can so relate to all of this as it is where I am at now too. Tues I will do my EKG and labs and then wait for the results to be sent to the surgeon. I am having Dr Atkinson:

Obesity No More

I need to get this done by yrs ebd also. I have BC last yr and they covered it. I could have had the bypass for 4K out of pocket and the band for under 1500. Now I will pay 11K for UHC (Cigna POS). Oh well, the way I see it is that I am going to be healthier and life will be better. My friend who had hers done with BC had to go to pschy evals for 6mths and record a 6 mth diet history also. I am sure you will be successful and have it done this yr. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
