Not losing!

Recommended Posts

Hop you guys can give me some advice! I have had my band just over a year and have only lost 60 lbs, I keep playing around with the same few pounds over the last few months. I had my last free consultation at the end of August and the Dr wuld not give me a fill because he said there was a lot of Fluid ihn the band (9) in an AP Large and he said I need to focus on my eating but he has never given me a food plan! I have been doing WW but my body seems in a mess when it comes to losing weight! I can eat a lot more than a starter sized plate which is what I understand I should be eating. I am planning on going back to my Dr but it costs £150 and I want to go in with some idea of how I should be feeling and whether I should have a fill or not. I don't want to get there and have to pay for me to be told no fill again.

I'm desperate I really need to keep losing weight I am strill just under 300lbs!!

Any ideas?:rolleyes2:

You find out, let me know too. I'm on month 9 and had 4 fills, there is restriction, if I eat too fast or certain foods I PB and/or slime, but like you I can eat much more than what most people say they can and am always hungry.

I'm on month 9 and lost 50 lbs and now have gained 10 of that back.

I'm starting to believe that really obese people (I was over 450 and am still over 400) probably should skip the lapband and go for something more drastic.

My doc reinstilled in my head the last time I was there that LB is a "tool" and not the only way Im going to lose weight. So Ive been trying to keep that real fresh in my head.

Its definately a lifestyle change not an immediate change. You might wanna check out the slow losers forum for some tips and tricks....

I am just as slow so dont get discouraged....

To be honest Im not sure what to say about the no more room for fill thing. Im at 3cc in a 10 cc band....

Maybe some others can help you with that....

Good Luck with everything!

Wendy

My surgeon gave me an eating plan booklet here in Massachusetts. It's real helpful. I haven't been banded yet. My surgery date is on December 5th, 2008. I'm planning on doing the liquids for Breakfast and lunch and then have a normal meal at supper time for at least a few weeks before I have to go all liquids before the surgery. It will be a challenge, but I'm up for it because I definitely want to lose this weight. I'm 240, 5'4'' tall. I intend to follow the 1000 calorie diet after surgery that they gave me. So if I were in your shoes, I guess I would ask the doctor for a meal plan to follow. It definitely helps to have something to go by.

Keep going, I'm sure you will be fine.

Laurie

My suggestion would be for you to keep a food diary. Write down every item that passes your lips. Nothing, no matter how small, should be omitted. I'll bet that there will be quite a few calories listed that might make the difference in your not loosing. If you can cut some of those non-meal calories, and if you can exercise just a little bit more, you might break the cycle and start dropping pounds. It might be slow, but as long as the scales are going in the downward direction, you will be successful.

Thanks for your responses I am going to keep a food diary. My surgeon hasn't got a food plan to give me! I can't believe it! Gonna try a get this moving a bit more before I go in a think. Gonna look at the slow losers now!

mnn2501: I do think that if you have a lot to lose like us this is perhaps not the best option I am trying to lose it as a tool but I really was hoping for it to be a bit more useful than this! Stilol lets keep going and see how far we get, it will be a lot further than if we tried on out own!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
