I was banded about 3 weeks ago. Obviously I was tired from the surgery, but now I am pain free, but I am really tired all of the time. Is this normal? I thought I'd have more energy by now. I'm off of my blood pressure meds so I thought this would help. Am I not eating enough? I'm at about 700-800 calories a day. I'm not too concerned about it at this point as I'm still in the healing phase, but I really want to get back to being as active as I was before the surgery, but being tired a lot makes that hard.

I definitely think you're not eating enough. food is fuel for your body. That doesn't mean you should eat 2000 calories a day, but you should definitely try to stay between 1000-1300 calories a day. Dropping below 1000cals a day can send your body into starvation mode and seriously mess up your metabolism, not to mention make you tired and leave you with no energy. Try to start eating more! :rolleyes2:

Are you taking a good Multivitamin? If not, you really want to add a chewable Vitamin to what you are doing. Also, make sure that you are drinking enough. I understand that being dehydrated can make you feel that way. Either way, I hope that you feel better soon.

I'm taking my multi and Calcium pills every day. Maybe I'll try upping the calories. I'm not watching them purposely, but I'm keeping track of things online so I know what I'm eating. I am really not that hungry, but maybe once I start real food I will be able to get in more calories and feel better. Thanks for the advice!

It is hard to get the calories in on the post op healing diet. It does get a little easier. I am a little over a month out and still struggle at times to get all of the calories in. It does get better.

Congrats! That sux that you have the flu though. I've been washing my hands like crazy to avoid catching anything. I actually have been sleeping better than I did pre-op. You're having trouble? Hope it gets better!

I was also banded on 10-29-2008 and i have been unable to get all the protien in that is required each day. I think mine is due to me biting my tongue durning surgery it has been so swollen that it is hard to drink and also talk.

I hope you get to feeling better real soon

Well, this is the first time I've had gas.. since surgery! My stomach is making crazy noises and I have this pain under my ribs... ugh! I've walked laps around my house for the last 20 min and it's not easing up.....

I'm so tired, but it hurts so I have to keep getting up and walking....

Gas is a real downer but what helped me was a heating pad and lots of GasX. I had the strip kind. My heating pad has been my best friend for the last 2 weeks. Good luck

Thanks for the tip. I think I might have to look for my heating pad! My husband rubbed my back this morning and said he could actually hear the bubbles moving around when he rubbed me... ugh! My body had become some kind of noise making machine, lemme tell ya! lol

It happened to me, too. I slept 6 months away.

But it seems I woke up one morning past goal.

Your body is used to consuming tons of food and now that it's not....you will be tired, that's normal.

Vitamins and other remedies can help but just hang tough and ensure you are fueling your body.

You are not alone! I was banded 10/17 and have been feeling especially tired the past few days. I think a lot of it has to do with resuming normal activities after lying low for 2 weeks. Here's to hoping we both get more spring in our step soon!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
