Pain after eating or drinking

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Oct. 8th this year, and things have been wonderful...until this morning.

I had a carnation instant Breakfast, and within minutes I had severe stomach pain. I thought maybe I was becomming lactose intolerant because occasionally milk does make me sick. Well, around lunch time I grabbed a few grapes, which also brought on the pain. Then just Water, and that brought it on too. :cursing:

I need to drink, but it hurst so much I can't bring myself to do it. I have not had a fill at all yet, and my band is totally empty now. I've been going to the bathroom all day, so I know I'm not blocked. The pain is most severe immediately after trying to eat or drink something, but even when I'm not, it's still very tender.

I looked up symptoms of different band problems and nothing seems to fit. I'm not throwing up, and I haven't at all since the surgery. I'm not burping or spitting anything up at all.

Any ideas? :) I appreciate any help. thanks!

Heather

I agree. Call your doctor. Sometimes I have pain if I eat or drink too fast. But because you had a similar pain later, I would call.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
