Hi guys,

When you are on the boost,is it like a liquid milkshake? Is there any boost bars or anything else? Is the 2 weeks on boost just to lose weight before surgury or what is the reasoning behind it? Sorry so many questions? One more...Clempier have you spoke to the others that were operated on the same day since their surgury to see how they are doing?

The main reason for the boost is when your fat you usually have a fat liver.... since that for the operation Dr. Savoie will need to move youre liver, he rather move a healthy lean liver than a fatty liver.... Since the liver is an organ that can heal quite fast, just a 2 week low fat and low calorie can greatly improve liver fonction and shape..... It will also help Dr. Savoie see if we have the will power to help ourself first cuz as soon that he will open us it is quite easy to see if we have follow the diet correctly just by looking at the liver.

I dont mind the question keep them cumming...

Hi Annie & Cindy,

Like Keith, I was allowed 4 Boost diabetic every day and Water. Keith is right about the reason why we need to lose weight around our liver.

The group we're planning to start won't be before September.

The last I've heard from the two other lady who had the surgery the same day as mine was that the second lady came back to see Dr. Savoie. I don't know exactly why. I know she's diabetic and she seemed to be nervous. She said after surgery that she wasn't sure about the surgery if it was a good thing or not. Some of members of her family didn't agree about the surgery and some were saying the opposite. That's why I say how much the support is important and you have to be ready in your head and in your heart that's the right thing to do FOR YOU, no one else.

I haven't heard from the other one who was from Fredericton.

I'm happy with my surgery and I would do it again. Tomorrow I'm starting my what I call my "blender diet". I'm going to be happy to eat meat even if it's all shread by the blender.

Oh cool which call center are ya working?

The reason I was asking for the bmi is that mine is 58 and my friend Annie is 60 ..Thought maybe since it's quite high they would of rush a bit more.. anyway I guess i' ll call to see if that is the case. I hear ya with the multi tasking. hehe :eek::sneaky:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
