AnneW 0 Posted October 31, 2008 Hello everyone! Well, this is a little scary...I have never posted on an on-line forum before. I am scheduled for my surgery November 7th at the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Mississauga. Dr. Cobourn will be doing my surgery. I am very nervous/excited--as I am sure many of you can relate. I am really struggling with the Optifast...some days are better than others. I generally do well during the day, while I am at work and distracted. But the evenings...especially if my husband is at work...those times are tough. I feel like I am the only one who has struggled with the Optifast, that everyone else had the willpower enough to not eat food during this time (after all, it's not that long of a time...). Why is this so hard? I am SO interested in hearing about other experiences, and am sure I will be on this board frequently! Thanks for reading, Anne
Beedje 0 Posted October 31, 2008 Don't think you are alone. I had surgery 1 year ago and yes it is so hard to stick to liquids only before surgery. I was a snackaholic =) and the night time was the worst. I put a paper on my frig with the date of my surgery in huge black bold print to remind myself each time I felt the urge. I know it is hard now but you can push through it. It will be worth it in the end.
rodriguezequal 3 Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) I added A LOT of ice to mine and blended it so I felt like I was eating more than I really was!!! It sucked so bad though, but so worth it in the end . You're definatly not alone...It'll be done before you know it Try picking up a hobby for when you're hungry...I started crocheting and painting whenever my brain felt hungry lol... AnneW 0 Posted November 1, 2008 Hi again, and thanks for the encouraging responses! A few more days have passed, and as the surgery gets closer, the easier I am finding it to stick with the Optifast. Basically, I am terrified of the surgeon not being able to proceed b/c of fatty liver. Sometimes, a little fear is a good motivator! Well, thanks again to those posters who wrote back. See you on the banded side!
pattikay 0 Posted November 1, 2008 we can do this together- my surgury is 11-5-08 w/ Dr. James Wagner @Hurley bariatric center- week ends are the worse for me but we are both sooo close and its just for a little bit more- day by day we can do this ( never been a cheerleader before-this could be fun) I will watch this forum for your progress ok? Best of luck!!!!!!
AnneW 0 Posted November 2, 2008 Hi pattikay! Thanks for writing! You cheer me on and I'll cheer you on too! Did you see there is a group for November 2008 Bandsters? I am not totally sure how I ended up there (well, I clicked on a link in a post, hopefully I can figure how to get there directly...), but it seems great. Let me know if you find the group. And good luck on November 5th, I will keep you in my thoughts that day.
