Hey everyone, after 3 long months...(lol)..I will finally be banded on July 18!!! My approval was so easy, I am still a bit nervous though. My operation was scheduled for June 14th but I had an ulcer to get rid of first. So, here we are a week away, any advice??? Could use all the advice I can get..

don't run with scissors. Don't rollerskate in a buffolow herd. don't play with fire.

Oh, wait, you were looking for adivice for your upcoming band, sorry, today I'm full of spit and vinigar.

#1, start doing crunches. Not sit-ups, but crunches. Take a pilates class if you can find one. It will strengthen your core muscles and make your stronger, and your recovery easier. I'm convinced of it.

#2, don't get into the "last mean" mind set. It's possible that you will still be able to eat what you loved before, but the band, she is a fickle mistress.

#3 keep yourself busy. If you start a new hobby that involves using your hands, you won't have time to worry about the food you aren't eating, and your hands will be too dirty to eat anything anyway.

You are a trip my dear. Had me cracking up. The band is great. I was just banded three weeks ago. Advise: eat everthing you want this week and then some. Eat a big juicy steak for me. LOL I'm on liquids for another week- oh how good a steak would taste right now, but the beef bouillon comes in a close second. LOL. The week before I was nervous as could be, and now I can't believe the time has come and gone--nothing at all to worry over. Just worry over having to buy new clothes for the new you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
