Recuperation time, what's your experience?

Recommended Posts

I didn't feel myself again until 1 week. I took off 2 weeks because I do have a demanding job, but I think you should give yourself plenty of time to heal. I'm 10 post op and still have alot of pain from my port and a hernia repair ( which I didn't know I had until after surgery)so I agree that you should have a plan B. Good luck w/ your surgery!

I'm a stay at home mom. I was home alone by mid my second day. I was home the same day from surgery. ALthough my children are 2 and a half (twins) one is disabled and developmentally at 6 months. So I have to carry him everywhere. I did tire easily, but I just kept moving. I feel great now... and yes by day 5 I was good to go.

I had my surgery on Weds and although my port area is sore, I feel great. I've been sipping my liquids and getting my Protein in. I actually got up and walked around the house for 30 min this morning. I was tired afterwards and fell asleep (thanks percocet) but it felt great to have the energy to walk for 30 min straight.

That's great to hear Bridgette. I wish you a speedy recovery (seems you're well on your way with that) and great success with your new tool for success!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
