Confused - do I really need another fill yet?

Recommended Posts

I'm due to see my Dr for a fill next Thursday (the 6th of November) but I'm not sure I actually need a fill again yet.

I thought I did a week ago or so, which is why I made my appt. I was getting hungry again more quickly, and seemed to be able to eat more.

But this week has been a bad week for me. I've had a bad reaction to two meals - a vietnamese spring roll, which I think was wrapped in a wrapper made of gelatinous rice, and a pork chop that I too fast. I ended up vomitting copiusly both times and since then, it seems I can only eat a tiny bit before feeling tight in the chest and sliming. In fact this morning I had one egg and was spitting up saliva for 1/2 an hour.

I'm stilll getting hungry between meals and I'm thinking that if I ate slower or avoided certain foods (rice and chicken breast just doesn't agree with me anymore, and maybe egg too now) then I should be okay, but I'm wondering if I should put off my fill until I've mastered this restriction a little more?

I would wait a couple of weeks. I think that you need to eat smaller portions, and maybe eat a little something every 2 -3 hours. When I had a fill for the first time, I had to really slow down. It brought me back to the first few days after surgery.

Sounds like you may have irritated your stoma and is probably a little swollen and now it feels tight again. I would wait as well. Make sure you cut your Protein meats up in tiny pieces, example, look at your thumbnail divided into quarters, and cut your protein in quarter pcs the same size. and put that fork down after every bite. slow down, no fluids with your meals, it make it worse. wait aslong 30-60 for Fluid intake after any meal. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
