Sipping water?

Recommended Posts

So I started this 1200 cal per day food plan that Kaiser put me on. No problems there as I made really good choices with the food.< /p>

My problem is SIPPING Water. I am fortunate in that I love Water, always have. Drinking 500ml in one chug seems normal.

Anyone else struggle with just sipping water?

yep, big gulper here. I now have 4 fills. I can drink only say 1/2 gulp and it hurts. Love my restriction but hate that I can't gulp......

i am a gulper...started off sipping, but now at 3 weeks i can drink 250ml in 1 swallow, then i wait a few minutes and try to sip the rest...i dunno if i am hurting anything or not?????????????i can feel the cold go down to the bottom part of my stomach so i am guessing that i don't have any real restriction when it comes to water...but after i get a fill that may all change

I'm a gulper too...I love to guzzle my Water or unsweet tea down.. i've only had one fill, and about due for another one, so i can still gulp and guzzle right now. I'm also a nurse on a busy floor, so i have to chug down water when i can because i might only get one chance that day...

I dread it when i'm restricted enough that i have to sip....i mean, good restriction will be great, but i will miss my gulping..

Good luck!!!

Honestly this is my biggest concern about the surgery. I can handle the pre-op diet, and I can handle the pain, the liquids, everything. But not being able to drink as much Water as I want at one time is going to be hard. Yesterday I was shopping and I told my friend that I could literally stick my head in a pool of water and drink my way out. Then I went and got a big unsweetened tea (a Rt. 44 at Sonic) and I drank it down in no time. It was soooo good. I guess like everything else, I'll adjust.

I am a huge gulper too. I had my surgery on Tuesday 11-11-08. Today I was able to sip my way through 50 ounces of Water. It took all day, and I'm so full. HA! Who would have thought I would be soooooo stuffed from water. I love it!

What I have learned from this experience is that everyone is so different. I was also worried pre-op about the amount I would be able to drink. I am now 7 wks. post-op, have had a fill (with restriction) and can drink "normal".

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
