I'm a little worried about this too. I'm a teacher and teach 6 year olds so I do lots of bending over their small tables etc. I'm expecting to take 2 weeks. Do you think with my job that will be enough time?

Thinkingslim70; Hi, Don't worry, you should be able to go back to work after 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, your port site will still be sore, but it won't hurt to bend over by that time..Just remember not to lift over 20lbs for 6 weeks, unless your doctor tellls you differently. Just do what your doc tells ya after each follow up appts.. Everyone of them are different. I am a custodian at a middle school, so I lift heavy cafeteria tables daily. That's why I can't go in after 2 weeks. SO, just don't lift the kids out of thier chairs..LOL hahaha

Feel free to ask any more questions, I'll be glad to help. I love working in the school, kids are fun, but there are days they drive us nuts. I am so glad I don't have to worry about school lunch anymore. LOL I'd rather pack my own lunch & supper now.

Whenever you bend over at work, move slowly, okay. I know it hurts a little once you straighten up, so I move slowly. Al long as there is no pain, but just feeling the sorenss, you will be okay.. Healing time takes 6 weeks..

I took 2 weeks off. There was no way I could return to work only a few days post op. I couldn't even put my jeans on for a few weeks after surgery. My stomach was so bloated! My port site incision is still a bit sore (though it has healed great). Bending from the waist is way way better than the first few weeks but I can still get a twinge of discomfort now and then when I bend. I guess everyone is different and has different needs but I was fortunate to have the vacation/sick time available to me to take the time off that I needed.
