I was finally feeling better. Now tonight my stomach is killing me. It hurts when I breathe in, and it's not stuck food (I don't think?) It's in my lower abdomen, like right above my belly button. It's not my port and I'm a little scared. Anyone know what this can be? I am still on mushies and had some asparagus and cream of mushroom Soup right when it happened (pureed).

it's probably trapped gas. i had so many stomach problems that i thought i had something seriously wrong. i even had a ct-scan but i have discovered it was trapped gas. i even went to the er once but it subsided b/4 i saw anyone. take gas-ex thin strips, they work better than anything else i've tried.

I would bet trapped gas as well. I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was my appendix, But the next morning I woke up (I slept on that side that night and gas rises so it moved to the upper side which made it the left side):thumbup:and the pain was on the opposite side, knew it was gas then. I paid for it. I chose to eat a "dove" chocoloate that day and the rest is history, not doing that again. Not sure why the chocolate had that affect. don't want it again any time soon. could have been the sugar that caused the gas.

If it does not get better, gets worse, is accompanied by fever and the best relief you get is to curl up fetal position, you need to have your appendix checked. This could be completely unrelated to your surgery.

I am 4 weeks post op and I am having some uncomfortable feelings in my stomach. Even around my lower ribs. I think some of it is gas. It almost feels like hunger pangs. GasX strips help ( my surgeon prohibits any kind of pill unless it is crushed). I even had to refill my liquid lortab prescription. It seems to be a little better. I am going to get a fill next week. I don't know if that will help or hurt.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
