Hi Rene.

The owner/starter of LBT is Alex B. He's not around much, but if you need him, Alexandra (moderator) is able to contact him. Its a little confusing - owner is named Alex (male). Moderator is Alexandra (female). 2 different people.

Hope this helps. :(

I did a whois and got an address from Brooklyn, New York for the administrative contract. The Administrative contact is the person referred to as the 'owner' technically. They registered the site using something that is *not* a name - Admin Sys.

I've wondered the same thing!

It seems really nice that they let us use it free of charge. there's no advertisments and they don't sell product so I'm wondering how it's kept afloat.

I know it's none of my business i'm jsut really curious! seems to good to be true! :(

Alex B. is the owner, and he works for or owns a company that has access to server space which is donated for the cause. He's a bandster himself and about two years ago started this site just because there wasn't a dedicated bandster-only message board that he liked. I volunteered at that time to be a moderator just because I agreed--this user interface is MUCH better than the Yahoo boards or the one at Obesityhelp, so I just wanted to support this board.

There's no commercial support and absolutely nothing nefarious about it. It's one of the few truly commerce-free places on the web! :(

It is not extremely expensive to operate a site as long as you get inexpensive hosting and use an inexpensive domain name service. I do several and my cost per YEAR is about $32. minus the original set up of the site. Especially if you have someone like Alexandra who's willing to moderate for you -

Thanks to you both!

Thanks from me too! This is the best site I found when I was researching. Now that I have made the decision and am getting the band this will be my support site.

Tell Alex B. thanks for a great site and many thanks to all the moderators for the time you donate to making this site the best one out there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
