Will be the beginning of my journey!!!! I am so excited, I am being banded on November 10th at 8am!

I live in Corpus Christi, TX, I am 32 years old and I weigh 261.7 pounds, I have been married for 15 years and have 3 lovely girls and hypertension for 12 of those years. I have been overweight now for about 13 years and I have done it all.... Weight watchers, Jenny Craig, slimfast, Atkins, pills... you name it. Don't get me wrong, I loose the weight very easily, it's just a matter of keeping it off more than 6 months. I love the taste of food and have a hard time feeling full. So those two traits mixed together are a bad combo. I am hoping the band will help me to loose the weight and keep it off.

I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet. My nutritionalist has me drinking 4 carnation instant Breakfast (sugar free variety) a day and plenty of Water. So far it is keeping me full and I am doing okay. I am scared and nervous like everyone else and can't wait for the surgery part to be over!

Congrats! I just had my first appointment with my GP within my HMO to discuss the option. He is referring me out to a surgeon to start the process. Any suggestions, recommendations or advice? I am worried about the psych as from this site it looks like tht has thrown a wrench in a lot of people's plans. I would really like to hear what your experience has been.

Thanks!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
