Full after 4 oz, then hungry in 2 hrs..do I need a fill?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill on 10-20...5.6cc. I am slowly beginning to get hungry again between meals....like after only 2 hours or so. But I am feeling comfortably full after only 4 oz of food, sometimes its less than that. I went ahead and scheduled another fill for next week because my doctor said when I began looking for food in between meals then I needed more fill. Does that make sense to anyone? How did you know when you were ready for another fill?

Be careful with to many fills right away. This seems to cause problems for alot of people with troubles in the future with the band. If you are able to eat only 4 oz of food or less a time this is exactly what the band is suppose to do. It is okay to feel hungry. You need to start rating your hunger between 1-10, if you are a 7 or more between meals have a snack. Eat something healthy. It will not hurt you (if it is healthy) it will only increase your energy and give your body the nutrients it needs to continue to exercise and function at its best. This will get you to the next meal without being famished, and that will help you to eat slower. I think sometimes in the beginning all of us think that this is about not eating, but in reality it is about making healthier choices. Good Luck and let us know how you are doing.

That makes good sense....is is doing what it is supposed to. Tonight was only 3 oz, and I'm stuffed....I had 4 oz of meatballs on my plate but couldn't eat the last one. That is so foreign to me and thats what I guess I'm still having trouble wrapping my mind around....not eating EVERY thing on my plate...even a much smaller plate. But I freakin' love my band!!! Thaks so much for the responses. :)

This is the most logical sounding advice I've seen on LBT.

ive only had 2 fills but feel like its not working at all. i can still eat anything i want & not feel full. they keep telling me that more fills will give me that full feeling but its 6wks between fills. i acutally have to stop myself from eating. i didn't know that it may take up to 5 fills to get rid of that hungry feeling. for lunch i can still eat a whole sandwich which is not what i want. any suggestions. :scared2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
