Hello all, my name is Rodger I had my surgery on 9/17/08 and my first fill today a couple of hours ago. I have been reading along for some time and just wanted to introduce my self. I have lost 27.5 pre and post op and am very excited about getting my 1st fill. I have great hopes that the fill will move me from feeling all alone on a diet to having the tool needed to get full sooner and the full feeling lasting longer. I wish everyone the best and believe very strongly that each and every one of us can move to a happier healthier life.

How did your fill go??? I had surgery on Sept. 18th. My first fill is scheduled for Nov. 12th. So far I have lost 16 lbs. I am very excited but also very scared about my first fill. I feel this is when our real journey will start with the band. I know a lot of people who have had bypass (my support group) more with that type of surgery than with lap band, so not to many people to compare stories with.

Good luck, and may the band be with you! Ha-Ha

Good for you on the weight loss. My surgery was on 9/26 and I have lost around 16 pounds post surgery. I have my first fill 11/12 How did you know that you needed a fill? I am not hungry most of the time and I am not so sure that I get a fill anyway I would like to know what you think about it. my email is Sharmons@sisqtel.net

I had surgery on 9/30 and I go for my 1st fill tomorrow! (10/28)

Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous about this.

I was down 28lbs@ 2wks post op, so from the 2wks pre & 2 wks post I was pretty happy about that, but that last 10 days or so, man I've been a HUNGRY monkey! I called & talked to one of the girls at the office, she stated this was norman, that ll my swelling was gone & I was ready for a fill. Man it couldnt come at a better time. I've noticed I've put on 3lbs, and I was so feeling like I had 'failed' the band.

So, I'm gonna get my self motivated again, and see bigger changes by the holidays, especially Christmas!

We've come this far! We can do it! =D ....right?lol....

Don't be nervous about the fill. It is the same as getting a shot. I had my done under xray and I watched the whole thing. I will say that I do now have restriction. I have only been able to get Soup and salad to go down. I have gotten meat stuck twice. So I may be a bit tight but I am going to go with it and see if it loosens up.

Good luck to you and don't be affarid.

I was banded on 10/16 and go for my first fill on Monday (Nov. 2) My doctor routinely schedule's the first fill around a month out. Which is good, because I have hardly any restriction and while I've cut my portions, I do get hungry pretty quickly.

I was the same way the farther I got out from my surgery the bigger my appitite and the less restriction. Since the fill 3 cc's added to the two cc's put in during the surgery, I am very restricted. As for the full feeling I don't really have that but I am not having alot of hunger. Good luck.

I new I needed the fill because even though I was watching what I was eating I could eat anything I wanted without restriction. I would eat a meal and though I was satisfied I could of continued eating. My doctor said the way to gague if you need a fill is if you have gone a couple of weeks without weight loss and you have a desire to snack. Good Luck.

So it's been 4 days since my 1st fill.

I've been a little busy, but I wanted to pop back in and let y'all know my fill was great. I was able to see & watch what all they were doing, and I didnt feel anything, IT DIDNT HURT! YAYE!!!!

I was a bit worried about it.

I had about 1.5cc ...but now I have 4.5cc feeling good, eating good, noticing restriction, but THANK GOD, I'm not having any food intolerances.

Hope this will help someone...

Thanks for walkin me through mine =D

hi

We have the same lap surgery date, I had my first fill on Halloween. I had the same issue I lost 15 post surgery, gained 3lbs. And I have been hungry and eating like crazy. I'm a little discourage but my Dr said I would gain a few lbs and after this fill 4CC. He stated I may gain more weight before the next fill. Hang in there

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
