Live Webcast of banding

I thought it was very cool to see the surgery. I think I'm going to ask Dr V if I can have pictures of mine? LOL He will most likely laugh at me. My 13 year old thought it was gross too btw.

Just watched the webcast video. It was great. It sure explained a lot of what went on. I loved it. If any one has trouble getting it to download you go over to the side and click on webcast help. You have to have the real one player before it will play. This will test your computer and tell you what you have. The real one player is free.

That video was fantastic! The pictures were so clear and the explanations and answers to questions were so helpful. I tried to forward it to my mom and sisters but I think I'll need to type out the complete URL . Sounded to me like the video was going to be available for a week. Is that the idea anyone else got? Thanks to you "Baby" and your doctor!

I don't know it rather made me feel even more at peace with my decision. Its clear from seeing the surgery that it very mild compared to many other surgeries.

I do hope it stays up longer than a week. What would be interesting would be to see the rny or the double switch done. I'm sure there is much more bleeding and much more "tramua" done to the organs.

And it also showed clearly how the liver is in the way, unlike many diagrams and such. I am defiently going to stick to that two week diet when its time to shrink it some.

I haven't seen the video yet, but will...I did get pictures of my surgery, and let me tell ya, the doc can tell if you have followed your pre-op diet by the looks of your liver. I am sure glad I followed it, because a picture is worth a thousand words! I had him explain each picture today, and it was really interesting. Now, I'll check out the cool video!

How did I miss it? The start of this thread said it was going to be broadcast on 7/29 at 4:30. Isn't that tomorrow? Have I lost time somewhere? Going to check ou the video now. Hope I can see it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
