What I like about Mezt/Brown is that they include nutritionists and physcologists, also they have support goups every third Wednesday. The PA's do my fills. I am especially fond of Allison, this week she spent 1/2 hour talking to me about my hormone issues and always is happy and friendly. After going to my doctor yesterday, I learned that she was right on with figuring out what was wrong with me, without seeing the blood work that the doctor drew.

Most people are happy with who ever they pick, but you do want to know that you are important and that they give you the time and attention you need.

I was banded in Mexico by dr ortiz, the last thing they told me before going under was "This is a place of God and of healing!"

I would be happy to answer any questions that you have.

Barbara

I had surgery with Dr. Tillquist last june and had a great experience with the surgery. I did experience frustration initially when I was trying to get insurance approval. It seemed to take a long time to get it submitted 7 weeks or so. I was denied and then decided to self pay. I submitted an appeal and my insurance is going to reimburse me so it all worked out.

Dr Tillquist is not the best! My almost killed my mom by putting hole in her bowel. He missed it four three days on the day he was sending her home I ask the nurse to call another Dr and he took one look at her and took her back into surgry. They saved her but she was in coma for 45 days. My mom lost over 100 lbs and said she would do it all agine. I am having lab band done in a few weeks Dr Brown him and support staff are great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
