BethFromVA 5 Posted November 11, 2008 Yeah, it can have vasoconstrictive effects. I'd think that healing wouldn't really be compromised unless the individual already had some circulatory problems, though. My doc told me that he advises against it because of the diuretic effect (and I drink lots of Water. Lots of water), so I personally thought it was an acceptable risk. Of course, I'm pretty much an idiot, so you really can't go wrong by doing the opposite of what I do... ROTFLMAO!

JamieNP 20 Posted November 11, 2008 Although it may have suppressing effects at first, Caffeine is an appetite stimulant. It can cause an increase in cortisol levels which can cause the body to crave sweets. It can also contribute to insulin resistance.

Okay, THAT I understand! I always noticed the appetite suppressing part of caffeine but never noticed the stimulant part. Probably wasn't paying attention.
Gracey 7 Posted November 11, 2008 Have you also read about the possibility of Diet Coke actually making folks eat more? I'd been addicted to Diet Coke since 1989. Eek!!! Blame the DC and my anti-depressants certainly not my frequent hand to mouth activity!!!
JamieNP 20 Posted November 11, 2008 And, most of your caffeinated drinks are high in calories, besides just plain black coffee.< /p>

BethFromVA 5 Posted November 11, 2008 And, most of your caffeinated drinks are high in calories, besides just plain black coffee.< /div> I can't do plain black coffee. I use powdered Creamer and sweet-n-low. Coffee is something I can give up. I don't need it like some people do (hubby being one of them!).
 Donna113 2 Posted November 11, 2008 I gave up cigarettes (unrelated to band), diet sodas and last but certainly not least--gluttony. I pity the fool that tries to take away my coffee.
