It's all about the Electoral College. It could be early, and it could go on all night. When the polls close on the East Coast, we'll have a pretty good idea if it's going to be decided quickly or not.

Thanks for answering my question. Now, about that electoral college.... I never did figure that one out! Who are these collegians and why do they get to say who is the president and not you, the voters?

It sounds very strange but then all systems are kind of weird. French elections seem to take weeks as they have run-off votes after some of the candidates are disqualified. And here in Canada you have to vote for your local representative (member of parliament) if you want to see a specific leader (Prime Minister) become elected.

Thanks, Jack. How does one get to be an elector? Are the electors elected? Are they paid for their work or is their job a voluntary one?

re: "How does one get to be an elector? Are the electors elected? Are they paid for their work or is their job a voluntary one?"

This is one of the benefits of party machine politics from within each state. The details escape me right now, I'll have to get back on this one. I'm not clear on the difference between my suppositions, mysterious gravitational fields and dark matter theories, or what the real process may be.

Every foray I make into local politics resembles the visit I made to a grade-school buddies family meat packing plant where I was introduced to the process of making sausage. Ruined me for sausage eating for years.

Or maybe gadget will show up with extra insight.

It varies state by state, but it is generally a process where the political parties nominate people at the state conventions or by a vote of the party's central committee. They are often the political leaders or sometimes personal friends of such.

Because the electors could conceivably choose to cast their vote for someone other than the candidate their state selected (voted for), the political parties are generally pretty careful that they choose loyal party members as electors.

And clearly, my 2 don't mean anything either.

I never commented on your knowledge of the Electoral College. You commented on mine. Is there something else you'd like to contribute about the EC? Or do you just want to slam me personally?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
