volcano lady 0 Posted October 25, 2008 Hi Fellow Islanders, I'm nearing the end of my wait (weight, too) I hope. I may get my band by February, if all goes well. One of the challenges I face is having to fly from the Big Island to Oahu for surgery and fills because presently there is no one here to do it. I also have to drive 200 miles RT for my regular check ups with the Doc and Nutritionist, that has been a trial in itself. Is there anyone else out there in this same situation? Aloha, Patria
Puna Teri 0 Posted October 25, 2008 Aloha Volcano Lady, just thought I'd give you a shout out, since I know it's you ! Thanks for being such a great partner, going through this. I can't wait to Celebrate our success together.
WannaBSkinnyB 0 Posted November 7, 2008 What doctor are you seeing in Oahu? Where is he located? My mom lives there and I am trying to talk her into getting the surgery. I am waiting for approval from my insurance for mine.
volcano lady 0 Posted November 8, 2008 I am waiting to meet my doctor but first I am waiting to be presented. Soon, I hope. I have Kaiser insurance and the head doctor is Dr. Weber, but it could be another, just don't know yet. There is another team I've seen on the web if one is not a Kaiser member. Good luck to your mom.
phyl808 1 Posted December 12, 2008 Aloha, Great to meet another Big Islander. I also had my surgery on Oahu and have to fly there for my followups and fills. Its a big expense, I know, but I figure that I'm worth it. Its been 11 months for me and its been a great journey. Still heading for that finish line. volcano lady 0 Posted December 13, 2008 Thanks for replying! So far I have only met one other Lapbander here but there are a couple more coming in soon. We are on the Hilo side. I'm just waiting for a date now, I hope early January. You have done a fantastic job, thanks for the inspiration.
