Long term patients

Recommended Posts

I find hundreds of post but most all of from newly banded folks. Where can I find comments from those with a year or mores experience.

Try the At Goal forum. I think there is also a Social Group for people at goal.

We lurk, and read posts, but don't comment that much. There are only so many times you can explain what "pb" means, so we leave it to the young'uns. However, there are usually a number of us around, so if you have a question, ask and someone or two of us will probably respond.

Yeah I agree, most of us have figured out how to live with our bands and don't ask as many band related questions. After almost 2 years, I consider myself a bit of a guru on MY band and how to work it, and as such I can't remember the last time I actually asked a band related question seeking information for myself. What kind of information are you looking for?

If you make it obvious in your title - address it to long term bandsters for example - someone will answer.

By and large we go thru stages. Every now and then you get a couple of people hanging around who like to bash the long term bandsters, call us know it alls, accuse us of not knowing what its like to be fat, that kind of thing. But lately its been very friendly, so you only have to ask.

I have been banded for just over a year. I agree with the old timers above. We are here. I post a bit, but sometimes, people get irritated. Cause I say it like it is. If I think you are being dumb, I'll tell you. A lot of the 'newbies' cry and moan about their problems, but when you 'call them on it' they get ticked off.

We are here. But we don't post as much, and we don't have many questions cause we've learned how banded life is. Anytime you have a question, ask. We'll be more than happy to chime in... Us oldies love our bands...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
