My honest advice is to go visit a surgeon who does several different procedures. I honestly do not know about/understand all of your medical conditions, but it may be healthiest for you to do a surgery that you lose weight more quickly with. That said, one of the great things about lap band is that they can keep adjusting it, so can hopefully keep you at goal with little exercise better than other surgeries can. Good luck do you - but the best advice I can give is to see your doc - only they can really know what would work best for your body.

I agree with Sarah Jane about seeing the surgeon and deciding which surgery is best for you. I know because I am diabetic my surgeon wanted me to have the bypass. I did not want to have such a major surgery. The lapband was the right choice for me. Ive lost seventy six pounds this year. I also have sleep apnea and hypothyroid. Are you able to do Water aerobics, it is very easy on the body and burns lots of calories. Best wishes and continue researching all your options.

Dont ever give up on yourself...Give yourself reason to be excited.. For me, its been a great process...something to look forward to. You will find all the support and encouragement on this site that you could possibly need...Find a Dr in your area...Jump through all the hoops, (there will be plenty of them )...See whats right for you...l felt very much like you...Car accident, pain pain pain...who cares...then one morning l woke up and said, I CARE...l am newly banded, getting ready for my firts fill...its been an exciting time for me...Please know there is hope out there for you...with the right Dr, perhaps your experience will be as rewarding as mine has been...Good luck to you...Lisa

Yes, seeing a doctor who does a couple different procedures is an excellent idea. I had the band because I was afraid of the bypass surgery. But I realize now there's very little to be afraid of with either of them. Either way there will be alot of changes in your life, and 99% of them will be to the good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
