I noticed I have pain in an area to the right of my incision about 1 inch below today. I was fine all day. I did go grocery shopping (I will be a month post op on the 30th) I am really uncomfortable, almost to the point where I am thinking of taking a pain pill. sitting is uncomfortable. Standing is fine... any thoughts???

That's exactly how I feel, 24/7 since surgery. My surgeon told me my pain is totally normal and that its where my port is actually stitched. I was surprised because I thought it was right under the big incision. But now that I think about it, it doesn't make any sense that it would be attached right under the incision, but makes more sense that they would stitch it about an inch lower, where I'm feeling my pain.

Hope that helps you a little!

My port access is an inch below my incision. It is a bit tender after surgery and will feel 'odd' for a few weeks... but pretty soon, it will heal and just become 'part of you' and you won't think about it... Hang in there!

I'm pretty sure it's the port...mine still bothers me so much that sometimes I can't sit or stand...it's an ache that shoots to my back to what feels like under my rib. I was banded on Oct 1st and was told it could take several months. Now, some days it's better and some it's worse. Take your pain pills if you need to...don't be silly! That's what they're for. Well, for pain and, I've found, for those times when you're having trouble coping with your three kids. One Vicodin and I'm up for anything.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
