Strange Pain

Recommended Posts

:crying:Hi All, I was wondering if anyone else had got this or heard about it. I have a fill the other day so I now have 3ml and I am quite restricted, some days are better than others......nothing new there then.

I did have a very stressful week recently and as usual turned to food, so this in turn made me sick everyday quite a few times a day until I got it back under control.

I am now left with a very odd pain, first it was in my jaw and I thought I had toothache, went to dentist all fine there, then it moved to my ear so checked Dr of ear infection all fine there, now if I eat to fast or gtry and drink a large mouthful of Water I get a really bad pain that travels from the band site up to my jaw then on to my ear and finally into my head, this keep coming until the food or Water has passed through the band.

I have talk to a Dr friend of mind and he seems to think is a a creanial nerve problem and the band fill has agrivated it, i am worried it is something else like a twisted band or I don't really know what.

Does anyone know anything about this?????

Hi:

I heard that there is a nerve that runs near your band that can cause shoulder pain when the esophogus is irritated. I've experienced this horrible shoulder into the jaw pain one time when I was stuck. It was so severe that they offered me a shot of morphine at the emergency room. I feel for you.

You may be too tight. Please call your doctor and explain what has been going on. Shortly after fills you can get swollen in there and this can cause irritation to that nasty nerve that shoots up your body. Don't forget, if you think you are too tight, stick with liquids until it passes or until you get a slight unfil.

Don't give up on your band. Take care of the immediate issue and then get right back on track. Try to find another way to deal with life's stresses. I use exercise to help me. Long, hot soaking baths work too. sugar free popsicles saved my life! Maybe a punching bag in the garage is what you need.

Best wishes for you to feel better soon.

Sue

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
