Is 3 weeks to soon?

Recommended Posts

I was banded last Thursday and I have my first fill scheduled for this Tuesday which is 2 days sly of 3 weeks.

Is this too soon?

My doctor told me I needed a fill every 3 weeks until I have enough restriction.

Anyone else having fills this often?

My surgeon, my fill doctor and all information I have read suggests waiting AT LEAST 4 weeks. You are still healing. I would wait if I were you. At least wait 4 weeks. But that is between you and your surgeon.

At 3 weeks I was still very swollen and I doubt a fill would have been a good thing - but everyone is different and every doctor is different. My doctor says mininum of 6 weeks between fills. I've had my first fill of 3cc and seriously doubt I will get another fill in November because I have great restriction - but again everyone is different. Good luck to you - if you are losing weight nothing says you can't push off the appt a few more weeks.

Congrats!!!! on being band. I doubt that your doctor would give you a fill if he felt it was not ok. I got my first fill in 5 weeks. Each doctor is different and because they are different doesn't mean that the results will be different. I had no problem and still doing great. Listen to your doctor because he knows your situation. My doctor's advice differs from most people on this site but he has not steered me wrong.

Take care and I wish you well during your journey.

Lottie,

Even your surgeon had you wait five weeks. Sometimes doctors "don't" give the best advice. Tracie30, discuss it with your surgeon and tell him what you have read and heard and see if he agrees about waiting another two weeks. This doesn't have to be a race. Good luck.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
