tracie30 0 Posted October 23, 2008 I was banded last Thursday and I have my first fill scheduled for this Tuesday which is 2 days sly of 3 weeks. Is this too soon? My doctor told me I needed a fill every 3 weeks until I have enough restriction. Anyone else having fills this often?
travelinsnorkel 0 Posted October 23, 2008 Wow, never heard of a fill being done that soon after being banded. My doc won't do one until 6 weeks out. It seems that these docs vary A TON in everything!
BellaPerdente 0 Posted October 23, 2008 My surgeon, my fill doctor and all information I have read suggests waiting AT LEAST 4 weeks. You are still healing. I would wait if I were you. At least wait 4 weeks. But that is between you and your surgeon.
USAGoosie 0 Posted October 23, 2008 At 3 weeks I was still very swollen and I doubt a fill would have been a good thing - but everyone is different and every doctor is different. My doctor says mininum of 6 weeks between fills. I've had my first fill of 3cc and seriously doubt I will get another fill in November because I have great restriction - but again everyone is different. Good luck to you - if you are losing weight nothing says you can't push off the appt a few more weeks.
Lottie 0 Posted October 23, 2008 Congrats!!!! on being band. I doubt that your doctor would give you a fill if he felt it was not ok. I got my first fill in 5 weeks. Each doctor is different and because they are different doesn't mean that the results will be different. I had no problem and still doing great. Listen to your doctor because he knows your situation. My doctor's advice differs from most people on this site but he has not steered me wrong. Take care and I wish you well during your journey.
BellaPerdente 0 Posted October 23, 2008 Lottie, Even your surgeon had you wait five weeks. Sometimes doctors "don't" give the best advice. Tracie30, discuss it with your surgeon and tell him what you have read and heard and see if he agrees about waiting another two weeks. This doesn't have to be a race. Good luck.
