Hi,

Im a new member from NSW AUSTRALIA. I have read a lot of posts by people who have had lapbanding and been to 2 information seminars. I have tried various diets but still put the weight back on so I decided lapbanding was for me. I have my specialist appointment today,Im a bit nervous,hopefully he agrees that I need the surgery.

Hi

I am also from the central coast and am wondering who your surgeon is I have'nt been banded yet and I haven't even been to the seminar but am thinking seriously about the band

I am trying to work out costs

Dr. Enochs in Cary is the surgeon. Have been to seminars. Out of pocket figure around 25,000. I have state employees BCBS so I'm paying 20% or so.

Hi Ciljon,

The doctor Im going to is Dr William Munro. He is at Gosford.He does surgery at Brisbane Waters Private and Gosford Private.He is really nice.His surgery is at 33 Etna St, Gosford. Telephone no: 0243253933. He has seminars every month, the next being I think on Monday 27th. You have to ring his surgery and book to attend . It is worth going to.

If you are in a fund your out of pocket expenses are about $4000.00.Ive been told you can access your superfund to pay for this.Dr Munro has the forms for this

Hi

Dr Munro is the surgeon I am using and am going to a seminar on 18th November I would probably go to Gosford as I live in San Remo

The Seminar is in Gosford

It is so good to find someone who is seeing Dr Munro as I have'nt met him yet but am looking forward to it

So you are $4000 out of pocket? Have you got full cover with the medical fund as I spoke to my fund Medibank Private and they said they will cover all of it but it depends if the doctor charges over the schedule fees

Hi,

Yes I have full hospital cover.We were told at seminar that the most we would be out of pocket would be the $4000. Waiting until appointment today and then I will ring my health insurance-Im with ahm- to see how much they cover. Your not far from me, I live at Woongarrah. Dr Munro as I said before is really nice,the seminar I went to a month ago he greeted everyone personally at the door as they arrived

Hi, I am from Central Coast as well... Umina - banded by Dr Caska at Woy Woy Private Mid August. Going great guns so far... had a bit of a plateau last 3 weeks, but going in for my second fill tomorrow. I have to say I have not had any cravings, had no problems in any way whatsoever - apart from the usual post-operation things, but really happy with the surgery, and looking forward to continuing steady weight loss... My surgery out of pocket expenses were just under the $4,000 (including 2 visits to the dietician) about half of the anaesthetist fee was refunded, and you can put the gap fee of 3,000 against your tax next year - refund of 20% of anything over 1500.00.
