HI all, I am 3 weeks post surgery and am getting hungry allot. How much should I be eating? I eat maybe 3/4 cup of food but my body doesnt tell me that I am full or hungry at that point. Maybe I am not eating enough in a sitting? I am still on mushy but other than greek yogurt nothing really seems to satisfy me. Please help!

I was told that when you start getting hungrier that it's actually a good sign because it shows that the swelling is down and that you are healing well. I wasn't restricted on the amount I could eat really, I was told to eat until I start feeling full, but I tried to keep my portions under control and plus I was so afraid of getting stuck or vomiting I didn't eat very much  Good luck

I am very much afraid of throwing up. I have a couple of weeks until my first fill. I will try to find more filling foods I guess and maybe eat a little more and see how that goes. Thanks for the input.

I am two weeks past and just had my doctors visit. I told him I was hungry. He told me to start eating "real"food, small bites, no liquids!! I started do that and I an not hungry. I know you said that you are still have a restricted diet, but try more filling foods.

I have started regular food and am doing much better, I am still adjusting to how much to eat.. Thank god I dont get to the point that I get sick though. My throat actually feels tight when I eat a little too much so I am assuming that is my body's way of telling me TOO MUCH!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
