I will be joining bandland in 13 days, have a few questions for my fellow bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone out there that likes to eat sushi? I love sushi and I am wondering if there is anyone that has been banded that still eats sushi. Since you eat a whole piece at a time, I do not see how it would be possible since you have to eat small bites:cry_smile: Just wondering if I will ever be able to eat this again!

I have been reading alot on this site and noticed that there are several fellow bandsters that travel far away from home to have this surgery. About how long do you have to wait after surgery before you can travel?

About how long are you bloated/swollen after surgery?

Looking forward to hearing your answers:wink:

My surgery date is November 4th.... YEAH:)

I eat sushi and don't have any problems with it. I don't eat a whole piece at a time though, I just take small bites. It's kind of messy, but it works. At first I would cut the piece of sushi up into very small pieces. Now I can just take small bites without cutting it up. I'm sure a sushi chef would frown at me, but you do what you gotta do.

Basically it comes down to how you handle rice after you're banded. I can't eat rice, bread or potatoes without getting "stuck" or just uncomfortable, but everyone is different...only time can tell  good luck

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
