Hi from Massachusetts :)

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to say hello! I found the forums about a month ago and have found them a great source of inspiration, support and information.

I live in Massachusetts and I'm 41 years old. My doctor is Dr Adam Glasgow in Norwood MA and I really like him alot. I have had just one on one with him and he has a very down to earth, likeable aura about him.

I've gone through all my tests except a 2nd sleep study test to be fitted for a mask (I am so nervous about this.) My surgery is scheduled for December 11th.

I am SO excited and committed to use the lapbad to the utmost advantage and get myself healthy, happy and looking good.

Nice to meet you all

Beth

Hi Beth:

Dr. Adam Glasgow is my doctor too. Best wishes to you in your lap band journey. I think that you'll find that both Drs. Glasgow are skilled and caring and they truly seem to get pleasure from the success of their banded patients.

Maybe I'll see you at support group sometime.

Best wishes to you in your lap band journey. Feel free to ask any questions.

Sue

Hi Everyone,

Beth, best of luck on your surgery it would be great to share stories in this process. :grouphug: When I had my sleep study they fit me for a mask right then, in fact they even came in and had me wear it for a time. Honestly, I didn't get my machine but I've been told recently that I should. The worst of it is just getting used to it, I've a several opions ranging from a day to 2 weeks to get used to wearing the mask.

I'm 38 years old, live in Foxboro and I'm awaiting surgery. My doctor is Dr. Daniel Jones at the Beth Isreal. I have my last pre-op test on Friday. Due to scheduling I will have my one to one meeting with Dr. Jones in November. I had chosen him after meeting him at the information seminars at the hospital.

I started this process after having a severe medical wake up call. I had a major "cardiac episode" in July '07. Obviously I'm nervous, but at the same time I'm excited, and very hopeful. I have an unbelievably supportive family which helps so much. Now I'm looking to this site to increase my support system, with others who have been where I am currently. It would be great to hear from everyone and your own experiences.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
