oh my aching head....ooOOOHHHHH

Recommended Posts

So this is my third day post op, or maybe my fouth...but last night i could not sleep because of this MAJOR Migraine headache. It is still with me today, it seems to go away with Water, and come back with Protein Shake. My eyes won't stop watering, so then my nose is running, which equals a stuffed head plus headache. I took a perk. to help with the headache pain, but OOOHHHH NNNNNOOOOOOO that just seemed to make me tired...plus major pain. Is this dehydration? I am drinking when i am awake, i try everyhour on the hour, but this head ache is soo not worth this. any advice??

My first instinct is that you are withdrawing from caffeine. Were you a big soda/coffee drinker before the band? Whenever I try to quit sodas, I get a headache that lasts on and off for close to a week - then it finally goes away. I noticed that when I'm having a caffeine-withdrawal headache, Tylenol-type medicines don't work for me.

I'm getting banded in two weeks and I've slowly weaned myself to about one soda per day. By Friday I hope to have completely cut them out, so I'll probably have a headache for a few days while my body adjusts to the lack of caffeine, but then I'm in the clear. :Dancing_biggrin:

Well, if that's the case then I would suggest dehydration as the culprit. If it gets that unbearable, call your doctor!!!!

Did you take the morphine drop in the hospital for pain after surgery? Could as well be the Caffeine withdrawal, could be food withdrawal as well. Sunlight hurt your eyes? You may have a sinus infection coming on. Rub your temples, see if just closing your eyes and relaxing. Could be relief from stress, surgery being over, the excitement building up to it and now over and done. Hang in there, Too much tv. Good luck and welcome to the banded world!

Have you checked your blood pressure? That might contribute. I didn't have a Migraine, but a bad headache the first few days after surgery. Are you using your spirometer (breath machine)? They told me to make sure I did that a lot and walk around to get rid of the gas.

It could be a million things....

Your hormones are significantly changed with this surgery...the vast majority of female Migraines are hormone related, so it could be due to hormones. (I crush up Excederine Migraine) and that kicks it.

If you live in a crazy state...you may be having allergy or sinus migraines (just had one for 2 days). My doc recommended crushing up my allergy/sinus med.

If you are in too much pain...call your doc and go get a shot to stop it.

YOU HAVE OPTIONS...

But you should talk to your doc after you consider what may be causing it.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

K

I was banded on 10/13 and experienced the exact same thing. I woke up on nights 3, 4 and 5 with a Migraine and also drenched in sweat. Day 6 I slept all night. Not sure what was going on but mine went away. I would say you might want to call your doc if it does not let up.

It has been 6 weeks since my surgery and I am still getting daily and frequent headaches. I use Excedrin Migraine which usually works and if not then I use a prescribed Migraine medication. The worst part is that the headaches are waking me up at night. Anyone else have that problem?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
