I'm always vomitting! Help!

Recommended Posts

I'm always vomiting! After eating 3 spoonfuls of my meal, I always feel there's something stuck then I feel the need to puke so I puke. My doctor said it's very dangerous because the band might move. But I always make sure to eat slowly but the feeling always comes as a surprise. After vomiting, I try to eat again since I feel I haven't eaten at all and I might not get enough nutrients and sometimes I don't puke after.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, I'm 20 years old.

:confused:I got banded this May and I have only lost 20lbs.

Ok, you've said you try to eat slowly but how big are the bites you are eating? They should be around 1/4 - 1/2 a teaspoon and then chewed to absolute liquid, no hint of a lump. If you are doing that but you are still throwing up on solids, you need to consider getting a slight unfill. Leaving the situation as it is is very dangerous for your band and can lead to a slip.

Once you have PB'd on food, you should switch to liquids for the rest of the day. PB'ing makes your stomach swell up and the band even tighter, so it will only get worse. You need to rest your stomach and try again with smaller bites and even more chewing the next day.

If you find that no matter how small the bites or how much chewing, you cannot tolerate solid foods, you need an unfill. Leaving the band too tight will tempt you to fill up on liquids and soft foods like icecream. These won't satisfy the hunger, however, so you will keep wanting to eat but won't be able to, will snack continually and will end up gaining weight - it is a vicious circle.

If you get the band loosened just a little, so that you can eat solid food (with the right amount of chewing and bite sizes), you will find that you feel MUCH less hungry, because you can fill up on good stuff that sits in your pouch instead of trickling straight through like liquids do.

Take a day or so to see if you can resolve it with rest for your stomach and smaller bites/more chewing, but if that doesn't work, get to your doctor quickly - don't let it go on and on for weeks. It is a miserable existance and really is the worst way to approach band life, not to mentiona dangerous for your health.

20 pounds is okay... the slower it comes off the better! like you, i used to throw up after just about every meal. i was overfilled but i was losing weight (from all the vomitting) and didn't want to gain any weight back so i held off going to get an unfill.

i had my body programmed that even if i didn't feel like i had to PB all i had to do was stand over the toilet, bend at the waist, cough twice, and up would come the food.... stuck or not.

now, i realize how unhealthy that is and i hope you do too. i really risked my band slipping but losing the weight was almost more important than that.

it's been about a month and a half since i had a slight .5cc unfill and i don't PB anymore (or rarely). at first i gained 7 pounds back almost instantly and yes, it depressed me but also made me angry... angry enough to start exercising. those 7 pounds are now gone and i'm at the same weight i was before the unfill but i get to start having fills again in november so hopefully i'm back on the right track!

call your doctor!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
