New poster in Arizona!

I was banded last April, and I'm very happy with my results so far, having lost over 40 pounds. I was a self-pay patient. I've had no problems whatsoever, but lately I've found myself surprised at the amount of food I can eat at one time. I think I may have to have the band tightened. I've also found that I can eat small amounts all day long and if I don't watch it, I will gain weight. I've been at a plateau for almost two months, and need some support. I'm hoping I can find some in this forum. Hi from sunny Arizona! :Dancing_biggrin:

HI Pamslamb,

I was banded in April as well. Self pay in Mexico. When was the last time you had a fill ad how many fills did you have? Did you feel like you were at your sweet spot and now it is gone? I still feel in the perfect place but they say as you loose weight you may need more fills since everything gets smaller, yeah! Two months seems long enough that you probably need to talk to you Doc about another fill. Picking up the exercise might also be the trick you need to jump start the metabolism.

Its all part of the program, ups and downs help us to fine tune ourselves perfectly. Good luck and don't give up, its just a little hiccup in the path to weight loss.

PS: I used to live in Phoenix, its definitely sunny and very very hot!

I've haven't had any fills yet, and I realize I need to make an appointment with my Doctor, because. I haven't seen him since July. The old mentality of "don't go back until you've done good" overtook me, I think! Thanks for the encouragement. I will call and make an appointment today. I'd taken a three week break from exercise, but I'm back at Curves and climbing the mountain!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
