Insurance approval time

Recommended Posts

So i have a few questions if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it!

1st. i have UHC epo, my dr's office started my case with care coordination today and faxed all my info to them as well, how long does it take for UHC to be able to tell me if they got all the information that was faxed?

2nd. Once they have the info to the case manager, how long does it generally take to get an approval? I know by law they have 30 days but does it usually take that long? My dr's office stated they usually have a response in 7 to 14 days.

3rd. UHC only wanted my 5 year weight history and the dr's office sent that info along with my current weight, bmi and a list of my coborbidies in a letter, does anyone now if the letter from the physican will be helpful in obtaining the approval?

Thanks in advance! Nervously waiting:whatchutalkingabout

Hey there...I am waiting for a response as well. My insurance is also with UHC. My info was sent to them on the 13 and I started calling the 14. I was told today that my info was sent to an RN for approval.

I only had a 3 year weight history so I am hoping they accept that. Good lUck!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
