I'm glad to hear that the first thing you did was absolutely the right thing -- checking with your own surgeon. I'm glad to hear he tried to reassure you that its okay. Trust him and if its still painful, call him again.

On the gaining before 1st fill, I have heard of folks doing that because your band is wide open and you can eat just about anything so just keep trying the best you can to stick to maybe 1200 calories or so, get exercise, and hang in there. With each fill things will be better.

Well, I'll throw my 2 cents in here because I've experienced the same thing. I lost a lot around the abdomen very quickly and the more inches I lost, the more I felt like the port was pulling. The doctor said it was because I was moving a lot more.... Bending, twisting and turning because I could! Then I decided to move the furniture! Oh, I know your pain...

If you think about it, your port is placed and secured over the muscles in your abdomen. When you strain these muscles, it can pull the stitches. I had nights when it was difficult to turn over and I sometimes sat straight up because I could feel the sharp pull. But it eventually went away.

It's been a few months now and no more sharp pains. But it still feels sore if I poke around there too much.

I'm hoping your pain gets better as the days pass. Do keep in touch with your doctor especially if the pain changes.

Blessings,

Judy

Give it a week and see if it doesn't start to improve.

Judy,, the part about losing the weight in your stomach first and being able to move more makes total sense... My friend was just telling me that she had "exercise"type pains for quite awhile in the first few months because she could move so much easier,,,

Scar tissue sucks!! I have had it removed from a ceserean incision because we were building a house a I got physical wayyy too soon..When I had a hysterectomy I waited as long as they told me then started slowly getting back into things and never had any problems.

Hope you are feeling better shy!! Take care of yourself..

Hello, I can sympathize with your pain and worries. I had the lap band surgery done Nov. 7, 2007. In the beginning you lose weight because of the initial restriction of the empty band. For me Week's 8-12 were really slow and i also gain a few pounds. That's when I went back to my surgeon for my first "fill" or adjustment. The first fill lasted about six weeks and then I had it adjusted again. I haven't been adjusted since February 2008. So stay positive, the first 4 - 6 months is the toughest. Then it's a breeze. It might take a couple times to get the band filled to where it is needed, but it's all worth it. I still experience pain around my port and in my left shoulder after I've done heavy lifting and excersize, or if I've ate something that didn't agree with me. It's been a common thing for me and I've had to learn to cope with it. They say the shoulder pain is caused from pressure on your diaphram and it sends refered pain to the left shoulder. That's about the only answer I have for that pain. Good Luck:thumbup:

Sounds like a pulled stitch. I had one and it hurt like crazy! It took about two weeks to heal up and feel better. My doc said it is fairly common. Hope you feel better soon!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
