Going Stir Crazy!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I tried searching for a thread on post surgery driving restriction but didn't find one that looked appropriate :tongue2:

My doctor has me on 14 day driving restriction and hanging out has home is making me craaaazy. I get the healing process, but 2 weeks is loooong.

Anyway, if anyone wants a texting buddy, let me know!

Two weeks is a long time. I had surgery on Tuesday and was driving on Saturday. I was told not to drive for 48 hours and that was just to get the anesthesia out of my system.

You should always follow your doctor's orders but maybe you should call and see if he really meant 2 weeks.

Follow your doctors orders. Make sure that you're not going to drive if you're still taking pain medication. I stopped pain meds on day 2 and drove on day 5, but I was lazing by the pool so I enjoyed the down time. Get a few good books and enjoy the down time.

Best wishes to your band success.

By the way, I love the polar bear picture!

I was restricted from driving until 24 hours after I last took a narcotic pain reliever. My surgery was on a Thursday, and I drove the following Monday.

Like Kiz I could drive 24 hours after I no longer needed pain meds. Truth be told I ended up driving the thursday after a tuesday surgery (just 4 miles). Friday I drove considerably more, and paid for it. I didn't drive again until sunday and then tuesday after that.

I think it was restless monkey who commented on the variability of each surgeon!

Each one seems to have their own style and directions when it comes to just about everything (water/food procession/excercise/driving/etc.) and it can be enough to make my head spin :tongue2::rolleyes:

For people who have questions about medications life effexor and wellbutrin, I am on both and have been takiing them fine with no complications. I thought I might have a hard time with my 200mg wellbutrin tablets because they are kinda large.

I think I have both black and nude colors and again they are unopened power panties. I actually may have some other unopened things but I'd have to taker looksee....just send me a private message or respond to this thread.

For anyone worried about their first meal out of the home....I went to a vietnamese restaurant with my hubby yesterday and was able to enjoy about a 1/4 of a big bowl of chicken pho noodle Soup with absolutely no problems....I felt so good after we walked and I had a taste-try of capucinno chip gelato and it was the perfect amount!

Regular foods is kinda a misnomer I guess. I've been on straight liquids for several days and only deviated from that for some grits/polenta. Other then that its been pudding, yogurt, frozen popsicles (yummy!!), Jello, and Protein Drinks. You sound like you have about the same driving restriction as me. I have a lot of books, but I'm still feeling very restless.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
