Who can still eat whatever they want?

Recommended Posts

I got my band on 7/30/2008 and have had one 3cc fill. I can still eat just like I did before surgery.:tongue2: I can still eat bread, actually a foot long subway sandwich just yesterday! I haven't had any problems eating anything I try too. Who has gone through the same things? Please tell me I am not alone.

I had my first fill yesterday of 3cc in my small AP 10 band. but i have to say the last week i was eating rather large quantites. I do not know if i can eat bread because i am scared that i will be able to and then cause me to spiral into a 3 day bender on it. i prefer to fear the feeling of something being stuck, than to get the courage to try things like that. i have also stayed away from rice, Pasta and potato chips for that same reason, and if i ever do weaken and try them, i hope that they get so stuck that it scares me off for life.

good luck I was banded in late August by the way.

Me, within reason.

Although I am very wide open at the moment, I had some fill removed due to inexplicably tightening. In hindsight, that coincided with some ah, girlie problems I was having and now that I had a bit out, and those problems have resolved I can eat a horse (and the rider).

But even at max tightness I was still able to eat anything as long as I was careful. And even NOT at max tightness, it does vary day to day.

Breads, cakes, donuts and muffins - difficult foods. Some days really uncomfortable to eat. I dont perservere, I mean they're hardly necessary to sustain life anyway. Other days I can indulge more easily.

I had fill removed when I was struggling with fruit, vegetables and meat some days.

But overall, I manage and did so with more restriction too, a normal diet based on all five food groups.

I can't IMAGINE being able to eat a foot long sub, or even one of their mini-subs....but I haven't had the guts to try bread. I haven't tried much that's on the no-no list! I haven't had rice, or potatoes at all.

I can however eat chocolate and like the smooth feeling going down my throat. I love Pasta now, and eat about 1/2 of a lean cuisine meal w/ Pasta. It's funny because pasta is something I didn't like it very much before. I know it's not something I am supposed to eat, but it again is something that feels good to eat. I also really like chips, and those if chewed well are also easy for me to eat. I try not to eat them though of course!

chicken and things like that get stuck now unless I chew super well. When I did try fried chicken skin, one bite and OUCH! So no, I can't eat what I want. I have learned there are things that really make me sick... chicken nuggets made me puke, fried chicken, scrambled eggs. I know I shouldn't even try fried chicken... but well, I guess I am nuts, because I still crave and want that stuff. I only had one bite!

For the most part I can eat what I want. Certain things I can only do two or three bites, but that usually satisfies me. Things like pizza, bread, dry chicken breast... I have to be careful. I have PB'd on it a few times, but nothing consistant. But I eat most anything. I can eat rice and Pasta, but on the rare occasion that I do, it's brown or wild rice and multi-grain pasta.

I'm not banded yet, so I am confused. I thought the badn created a little pouch. So if there is a little pouch, how does one eat an entire foot long Subway sandwich? Won't that stretch out the little pouch? I am confused???

Hi, ur surgery date is my b-day! YEAH!...for us!....I think we r hungry at first because most Drs. put the band on w/ NO fill, they give u 4-5 weeks to heal from the surgery til 1st "fill" u, so u are basically with little to no physical restriction 'til the fills begin!.....Personally, I cannot wait for my 1st. fill! Best of luck to u!

An unfilled band will let the food through at an almost normal pace, so the pouch doesnt get full. The food just drops through to the bottom part of the stomach, it is ENTIRELY normal to be able to eat like this early on in the journey before you get restriction.

A fill will make the hole smaller, and food will begin to accumulate in the pouch when you eat, and you will begin to feel full much quicker.

Well, I don't seem to have any trouble foods.

I hear some have trouble with meats, I can eat meat very easily.

Pasta? No problem at all.

bread? I might eat is a bit slowly, but no problem.

Honestly, the only thing that gives any problem at all are some fresh fruits or veggies (I ate a plum once that was a bit problematic, but not too bad - tomatoes cause me a bit of problem, but only gas pain.)/

So really, nothing bothers me too much.

Well I DID try a bit of bread today and guess what- it got stuck and HURT! It was grilled bread. I ordered a chicken sandwich on grilled bread, and only ate the grilled chicken breast inside, which is better for you anyway, but now I know!

I haven't ran into too many problems foods yet. I can eat bread but after a bite or two, I start feeling full and that is NOT what I want to waste my calories on.

chicken breast is really tough to eat unless it's in chicken salad or something where it's cut up and lubricated with mayo or something. I can eat bread, but I usually go for the crust if it's like in a restaurant, and I don't do it often. I got stuck on melba toast once. Go figure. I can't wait for my second fill which doesn't happen till Nov 19th! I think I'm going to have to go back to basics in order to survive until then. Lord help me!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
