How soon can i exercise after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on October 1st and I am ready to at least walk on the treadmill or the elliptical. I also have the richard simmons tapes. I think that the walk tapes are really good! I dont want to hurt anything inside or push too soon. does anybody know when it a good time. I haven't had any complications with the surgery so I think that I am good to work out. What do you all think?

Hello I was banded on Oct 7,2008 and when I asked my Dr he said that I could do it when I felt I was ready and I have already started walking and I feel fine.

Your Dr. should have given you the answer to this question. For me, my Dr. said just walking daily for the first 2 weeks then I could resume other exercises in moderation. I was also instructed to not lift, tug, push or pull anything beyond 20 lbs. for 2 weeks. Good luck.

Did you not get a manual? I have a pretty big manual my Dr. gave me so feel free to ask me anything and if I don't know I'll refer to my manual. Go ahead a take a nice walk today and enjoy it.

Hi I was banded Oct 13th and have been using "shooters" as my main Protein source. They come in a large test tube and either are 45g or 42g in the 3.1 oz tube. I have ones made by IDS called New Whey Liquid Protein and CNP called liquid Protein. These were recommended at our support group and I have found them very helpful. They can be found at GNC and other Vitamin stores.

At GNC they are either 3.59 or 3.99 in my area depending on which you buy. At a local Vitamin shop they were 3.59. Seems to be a consistant price. Good Luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
