i have a scar about 3 inches but where the laproscopic instruments were inserted, there are 4 bumps.... kinda like pimples... do these diminish in time or do they stay??... thanks!

Whatever you do, don't scratch them. I ended up with scars from scratching and had to use banishing cream to get rid of the scars.

I also had bumps where the instruments were inserted. I was feeling one one day and pushed on it and heard a noise like a bubble bursting and the bump went flat. I tried it on the other 2 and the same thing happened so now they are all flat. I don't know if it was just air trapped in there or what.

Not sure when you had your surgery though - I did this about 6 weeks after my surgery.

I am 3 months out and those little bumps are finally flat and faded for the most part. I imagine in another month or 2 I won't even be able to see them. the other scars (port and instrument incision sites) on the other hand are still very bright red and shiny. I hope in time they will fade.

I'm amazed you are 6 months out and still now fills. Was that your decision or the docs? You have done very well with the weight loss.

thanks for the comments..... i'm kinda funny.... after reading a book on lap band surgery, it tells you of the good and bad foods.... what it boils down to is the 'sugar' we eat. I have cut down almost 100% on my sugar intake and eat no carbs with the exception of some boiled potatoes here and there. when i learned what our liver does with carbs, it all makes sense.. the carbs are broken down into sugars and if you dont give ur liver any sugars or carbs, then it goes after the fat stored in your body. I was 290 on Apreil 22nd '08 and now i just came back from my annual checkup and am down to 212.... an i'm 6' tall.... my bmi has also dropped by 10 points.

i also only eat low glycemic veggies like cabbage, lettuce etc... no Beans, corn, carrots, fruit juices or peas and no pop but a lot of water.... I eat fish once a week and make a lot of Soups. One thing i do also is take a few tablespoons of physillium husk with Water and drink that, the physillium husk expands in your stomach to give you satiety..... and not to mention, it keeps me 'regular'.

I was a self pay (16000.00) and i look at the lap band as a smoking gun, if i feel i'm losing control, i'll get a fill.... and i must admit that being a widower for almost 8years, i have come to realize nobody wants to date a fat person so all the more motive for me....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
