I have my Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and am back at University of Cincinnati working on an Associates in Forensics, as well as working full time for the Courts in Kentucky so I understand about the meal issues, I am still working on it and I had my band done 10/23/08

School is tricky. I would just eat a lot of trail mix. hahaha It doesn't need to be cold and for the most part it doesn't melt and it has an ok amount of Protein. It also has a lot of sugar but oh well it was the best I could think of. hahaha I'm lucky that my school has a nice cafeteria with some really healthy options.

Hi, I am a junior at UHD in Houston, TX majoring in Finance and minoring in Accounting. I am 29 (guess this is my last year in this thread) and am getting banded on Monday, Sept. 14. I must say that due to working full time and going to school full time my pre-op diet has been extremely easy!! Looking forward to see how everyone is progressing. Congrats to all.

I am 25 and still working on my bachelor's at GVSU in Michigan, and it is definately hard to find healthy things to eat on campus, but I do my best. And it is hard to exactly know how healthy it is, etc. But I try. It definately is harder than I thought, but I find it easier not to snack while I am at school. And harder at home at night to not snack.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
