Ok so, about this time every year, I come down with strep throat followed by a hacking cough. I usually just call my doctor and they call me in some antibotics and I run out to Walmart and get some cough medicine. Just wondering if anyone knows what kind of cough medicine I can take now since I am not suppose to have any NSAIDS and are the antibotics ok to still take cause I still have some left and instead of calling the doctor, I can just take those if they are ok. It is amoxcil (however you spell it)

PLEASE PLEASE don't self medicate w/antibiotics. In the first place, you should've taken all of them for whatever they were originally prescribed. In the second place, if you don't have strep, they won't help. If you DO and don't really take enough drugs, it will just go "underground" and move to another part of your body. It CAN come back to make you very very sick. Furthermore you are helping to create more super bugs (like MRSA...methicillin-resistant staph aureaus). PLEASE go to your doc.

AND NSAIDS are drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen and aleve. They aren't usually in traditional OTC "Cough" medicines but are in some cold medicines. Ask your doctor what you can take.

Hope I don't sound prissy but it is honestly bad to not take all your antibiotics, and/or to take some old ones on the chance that you do have strep.

Good! I'm glad I wasn't prissy and I'm glad you're calling your doc. Strep isn't anything to fool around with and it is becoming more and more resistant to our antibiotics (could you guess I'm a nursing student? LOL) so you're safest to go to your doc. Hope you feel better really soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
