HealthyMeFinally 0 Posted October 20, 2008 Hi, I was banded Aug 1, 2008. Have had two fills and have a follow-up tomorrow which I am not looking forward to. I have struggled since my last fill. I came to this site to learn more about HOW to eat post-op. I know what I was TOLD in the drs. office but implementing it seems tricky and involves listening to your body. Apparently that's part of my problem to begin with. I am still not slowing down with my eating, I am exposed to stress during meals (kids arguing during family meals) and I am literally getting choked up and spending a lot of time revisiting my food. In fact, I am concerned about band slippage. I need to revisit the post-op eating guidelines...quickly, and could use lots of prayers. Thanks.
SuzanneG 1 Posted October 20, 2008 So sorry to hear that you are struggling. A few tips you may try are: 1. Measure your food. My doc says 1/2 cup B,L,D and one 100 cal snack.< /p> 2. Use a salad plate instead of a larger one 3. Focus on protien first, veggies second and carbs only if you have room. 4. Use a salad or baby fork 5. Cut your food up in small bites (One person said their doc told them that your bites should be the size of your pinky fingernail) 6. You know this one, chew chew chew. Try to chew each bite 30 times. 7. Avoid slider foods (foods that are soft and go down too easily) Hope this helps!
