Recommended Posts

How do you know if you are eating too much or not enough if you dont have any restriction before your 1st fill ????

The best thing to do is to follow the eating plan your doctor or nutritionist has given you. For example, I was to eat 3 oz of tender chicken, turkey, fish or pork and 1/2 cup of veggies for supper during the soft foods stage. For lunch I'd have 1/2 cup of chicken or tuna salad with 6 crackers. I often felt like I could eat more, but when I really checked with myself, I found that I was no longer hungry after eating the recommended amounts. So, the *wanting* to eat more was just that - a want. And doing what I *wanted* regarding eating is what got me overweight to begin with.

I agree with Misty. Go with the recommendations from your doctor/dietitian. I measure my meals. I get my first fill tomorrow, so I now I can probably eat pretty normally. I measure and keep my meals, and stay between 1/2 to 1 cup, plus one snack. For satiety, I make my snack a Protein snack, like Greek yogurt or tuna.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
