Has anyone had this problem?

This morning I woke up to excruciating pain where my band is. It just worse and worse and there was nothing I could do to stop the pain. The pain was so bad I was sweating and shaking and I told my husband that I might have to go to the hospital. I thought my band had slipped! But that didn't really seem like the explanation because I was able to swallow Water normally and the last time I had eaten was last night. The only position that was comfortable was sitting up with my knees up to my chest. I couldn't stand up or lay down. So, I stayed like that for a long time and the pain started to go away. It took about an hour. I got back into bed and I felt the pain start to move down. I realized what it was. It was gas! I guess there was so much in my stomach and it was putting so much pressure on my band that it was causing that pain. As it moved down, it just felt like normal gas pains and bloating. I was so embarrassed that it could cause that much pain! Have any of you had this happen before? What could have caused that much gas?

I've had something similar happen a couple of times... Mine was a sharp pain in my lower back that woke me up during the night.. I wanted to cry...the pain was that bad. But I got up and walked and took an anti-gas medication and it subsided after a bit and I went back to sleep. The next time it happened I was smarter and took the pill right away... So now I have stocked up to make sure I have it covered for the next time.. I don't know what causes it...... Something I ate obviously, bit I can't track it to any one thing.. If that's the worst thing that happens I figure I'll be doing good... Take care and good luck... Julie

I too have had this, but not as bad, only extremely uncomfortable. Best way out for me is to half sit up (supported by pillows) and put a pillow under my knees, and it seems to relieve the situation and allow the wind to move down. My surgeon said that you can expect some wind build up, and that your body slowly readjusts itself directing it downwards instead of upwards.... anyway, that has worked for me.... Cheers for Now, Trish.
