travelinsnorkel 0 Posted October 19, 2008 I had surgery a week ago and am feeling a ton better, but last night into today I've developed a nagging, itchy cough. It could be allergies, but it hurts a ton to cough. My Mom thinks I shouldn't take any cough meds, but I think that it is worse to cough so hard and possibly disrupt something inside. Any thoughts? Or cough meds suggestions that are good post lap band?
MacMadame 81 Posted October 19, 2008 A cough can be indicative of so many things including stuff you'd never think of like acid reflux. Maybe you should talk to your surgeon before treating it.
artistapril 5 Posted October 19, 2008 I think you should talk to your surgeon before taking anything. I know you said your a week out so there could be a number of things it could be. I know when you are just out of surgery.. pneumonia is a concern.. with you being a week out it's prolly not that but better safe then sorry. I had to cough a few times a few days after surgery.. just a weird tickle in my throat..so painful.. definitely find out if you can take something to help you stop coughing. tkmothershed 0 Posted January 31, 2009 I'm a week out of my surgery and still have a cough. I spoke to my cousin (who is a surgeon), my surgeon is away until next week... but my cousin said it is normal because of the breathing tube and the iritation it causes. It's scary because it also hurts! I tell my Mom "It only hurts when I cough". I have a nebulizer for my asthma and that seems to have calmed the cough and breathing issues some. Has anyone experienced the same thing?
