Anyone have a pelvic ultrasound after banding?

Recommended Posts

Question: I need to have a pelvic ultrasound on Tues. it's just a routine one,but they want to see my ovaries since I still have them after my hysterectomy. Anyway, I have to drink 40 oz of Water 90 min. prior. How am i going to be able to do this? And if I can't will they still be able to do the u/s? I thought of starting much earlier than 90 min and then just not going to the bathroom but not sure if that will serve the purpose of all the water or not? Anyone know??

I dont know after the band what it is like. I have PCOS and have had MANY ultrasounds. For the external ultrasounds, they just ask me to have a full bladder when I get there. Now the internal ultrasounds, I just have to have an empty bladder.

Good luck

Longtobethin, I feel your pain. I had a hysterectomy and they left both ovaries in. However, the right ovary continues to grow small cysts, which can be very painful. With each cyst, they do an ultrasound, which requires me to have a full bladder. This has happened three times and I find the ultrasound painful especially when the technician takes the wand and pushes down. My bladder just doesn't hold it like it use to.

One time I did not have enough Fluid intake, so they kept me there and had me keep on drinking until they were able to complete the test. You never seen a woman jump off a table so fast rushing towards the bathroom once the test was complete.

Good luck.

I just had a pelvic ultrasound last week, I had no problem drinking the Water. I have no restriction with water either like Jachut.

Thanks for the responses. I should be able to do it. I will maybe start drinking early. I can't gulp Water like I used to, if I take too big of swigs it just sits there a bit and I get real burpy before it goes down. I also scheduled my u/s at 2pm as I tend to be tighter in the morning and this gives me longer to drink.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
